The Waren-Verein as a national association represents the interests of the foreign and wholesale trade with canned products, frozen products, dried fruit, edible nuts, dried vegetables, spices, organic products and related products

The association's aim is the optimal representation of the interests of its members. Above all, the Waren-Verein perceives itself as a service provider. Day to day, the Waren-Verein deals with new EU regulations and national legislation in order to inform its members. To be as quick and up to date as possible the association is in permanent contact with Berlin and Brussels. It offers rapid and convincing solutions for problems, helps with questions of food and customs law and informs thoroughly about trade policy developments.

According to its statutes, the Waren-Verein stands up for worldwide freedom of trade and opposes determinedly discrimination against third countries (non-EU countries) by the European Union.
